IFC’s Manufacturing, Agribusiness and Services (MAS) Department covers sectors which cater to basic human needs such as food, shelter, jobs, health and education. They play a critical role in providing goods and services to consumers, creating jobs, contributing to government revenue, and in stimulating growth through SMEs.

In January 2018 IFC has launched the Ukraine Dairy Supply Chain Project. The Project’s goal is to create the required know-how and partnerships among dairy industry stakeholders in Ukraine with the aim to increase the cost-efficient output of high quality milk, to support the modernization of the milk processing industry and, as a result, to contribute to improving the competitiveness of the industry on global export markets.

With respect to the Phase 1 of the Project (2018-2019), IFC is hiring 3 Junior Dairy Consultants:

1. Junior Dairy Consultant, Herd management
2. Junior Dairy Consultant, Nutrition
3. Junior Dairy Consultant, Veterinary

During Phase 1 the Junior Dairy Consultants will provide support to the team of international experts in the following:

• Translating and documenting the diagnostics of the pilot small, mid- and large-sized dairy farms and individual smallholders (the members of the cooperatives)
• Translating and preparing written improvement recommendations for dairy farms as well as providing cost-benefit analysis on the proposed improvements
• Support the dairy farms on implementing the recommended improvements between the visits of the international consultants, and
• Support, including translation, on developing all of the necessary tools and documents for further scaling up the successfully tested solutions

IFC expects to extend the project into Phase 2 (2020-2022), but the decision on the Project’s Phase 2 will be made based upon the results of the Pilot Phase.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

• A Consultant should have a bachelor’s or master’s degree in veterinary, livestock management, animal nutrition or a related major
• Excellent self-organization, communication and analytic skills
• A Consultant should have knowledge on the following business processes:

• Herd management
• Fodder production and storage
• Feeding
• Young stock management
• Milking
• Health management
• Comfort management
• Reproduction

• Practical experience working on dairy farms will be considered to be an advantage
• The Consultant should have excellent spoken and written Ukrainian/ Russian and English language skills
• The Consultant should be a skilled user of MS Excel and MS Power Point
• The Consultant should be ready to work on a flexible schedule and to be on business trips across Ukraine up to 50% of the time
